The Seaglass Project Albacore is the simplest finless surfboard in the world. It makes the thrill of finless surfing fun, easy and user friendly. The feeling the Ancient Hawaiians had as they rode their finless Alaia surfboards is now more attainable to more surfers. The Albacore surfs much like a thin wood alaia because of flex, yet it is soft and paddles very well and easily.
This model is currently on "Run Out", the boards are only available here and once sold out will not be replaced.
The EPS core delivers this flex, and makes for surprising control and maneuverability. The board bounces from turn to turn and feels light underfoot. It takes the joy of finless surfing out of the advanced surfer’s world and into the realm of the beginner to intermediate surfer.
The Albacore is tough, versatile and safe. It can withstand rough treatment and needs no wax or complicated fins. It can be ridden standing or prone and is suitable for almost any wave conditions.
The soft round nose and finless tail is infinitely safer than a normal surfboard. With the Albacore I am ready for anything from small slop to powerful double over head tubes, but my favourite surf is head high peaky beach breaks.
It brings a new spark to this common surf. With so much versatility on offer the Albacore is hard to beat as the most promising all-round surfboard for any surfer, at any stage of their surfing.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Construction
Softshell Construction
Boards with Soft Shell construction feature much more technology then the eye can see. They are a combination of materials designed to allow the board to perform to the highest levels given the constraints of the flexibility of the materials. All boards feature an integrated Fin System, 2 or 3 Wooden Stringers depending on the size of the board to ensure the board is stiff enough. A light weight EPS core combined with a PE foam layer on the deck and a High Density PE Slick that is mounted to a thin PE Foam layer on the bottom give the board an awesome feel in the water. Soft enough not to hurt should you fall on it but hard enough to handle the power of the waves. You can find out more about GSI’s SUP construction on our Surfboard construction page.

This board is either 5 stars or 0 stars depending on your outlook, hence I've settled on 3. I love experimenting with all types of boards and have enough access to the ocean to be at liberty to ride weirder shapes. This one is great for making meaningless, gutless slop into a playground as you try and manipulate the board's slipping and sliding into controlled 360s and slashes. Even then, it requires a bit of patience to work out, particularly when catching and taking off on waves where the low volume and lack of fins increase the difficulty. I can see a lot of surfers getting impatient with this board, particularly if you don't get to surf very often and don't want to waste time spinning out. That being said, if you love the idea of adding a new dimension to surfing, this is a complete hoot and reminds me of being a little kid and doing my first 360s on boogie boards.

My second albacore I use when in California finally got a bend in it and still I used it for another year. Alas its truely time to retire it. Imagine my dissapointment in finding out the project is over and no more 5'4" Albacores exist!! I have used it as a bodyboard with bodyboard fins to incredible effect on waves far bigger than intended. Because of its shape, the speed you get on this thing is only beaten by surfboards. I have always told curious people its like, 'longboard bodysurfing'. You can get into all the waves and make sections reserved for traditional surfboards. ITS A BEAST. I really dont want to get a Beater board because its just not shaped the same as the Albacore. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT. I have used the 5'4" Albacore in Mexico, up and down California, and on Kauai and it ALWAYS delivers while prone. Provided you are using bodyboard fins. BRING IT BACK PLEASE!!!

We have the 5'6" also. Super fun in Costa Rica. We will take this little guy down to CR, for 5 and 6 year old grand kids in a couple of weeks.

I’m a prone surfer after years of standing but have physical limitations which don’t allow me to get to feet now. I’ve been bodyboarding for the last 9 yrs and was looking for something different to try so discovered the Seaglass Project. I’ve used it 3 times and am still getting the feel for it and when I get it slotted, it’s so fast in the wave. I would like to request any videos showing prone riding on waves 2-5’, if you can direct me to those it would be helpful. I’ve been riding waves for about 60 years so I do have experience and knowledge but it’s always helpful to see actual prone surfing of new toys! I am a 67 year old female.
Thank you,
Sandra Malpee
