    Beginner – you are getting to your feet consistently.

    • You are popping up regularly in whitewater.
    • You are occasionally attempting small green waves.
    • You are learning to paddle.
    • Your equipment is taking the responsibility for getting you onto waves.

    Advanced Beginner – you are transitioning to real waves.

    • You are starting to build some confidence.
    • You are getting most of the waves you are going for.
    • Your Pop Up is second nature.
    • You are starting to do turns and regularly surf the green part of the wave.

    Intermediate – gaining confidence and building style.

    • You are comfortable in varied conditions (waist to head-high).
    • You are generating speed, performing basic turns and linking manoeuvres.
    • You are reading waves and positioning well.
    • You are taking more responsibility than your board for getting waves.

    Advanced – high performance and consistency.

    • You are strong in all conditions.
    • You are performing powerful manoeuvres (cutbacks, snaps, re-entries).
    • You are comfortable in critical waves.
