An important update on how to buy GSI products in New Zealand

Our surfboards and other large products are moving exclusively to local surf retailers.

We’re making an important change to how Global Surf Industries products will be sold in New Zealand

Late last month we changed our business model in New Zealand. Surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, boardbags and paddles are no longer be available to purchase directly from our NZ website. Instead, these products will be available exclusively through our network of authorised surf retailers.

Our dealers will receive multiple product deliveries throughout the year and will also be able to place special orders for customers. If you’re looking for a particular model, size or colour, your local GSI retailer will be the best place to start.

Why are we making this change?

The combination of a number of factors, including the rapidly rising costs of NZ warehousing and domestic freight, and economic uncertainty, has made holding and distributing large products in New Zealand increasingly difficult to manage.

By moving to a dealer-led model, we can reduce these overheads, work more closely with specialist surf retailers and keep GSI products accessible to surfers across the country.

What will remain available online?

Fins, replacement parts and selected smaller accessories will continue to be available through our website. These orders will be shipped directly from Australia; we have been doing this for the past two months and delivery times are good. We are able to keep the shipping costs the same as they are currently.

How can you support GSI’s brands in the future?

We’ve been helping people find the right surfboard for more than 20 years, and we remain fully committed to the NZ surf market. The best way you can support Global Surf Industries under this new model is to visit your local NZ GSI surf retailer, ask for our brands and let them know which products you would like them to carry.

Our retailers provide valuable local knowledge, personal advice and ongoing support—and their role in the surfing community has never been more important.
